THE CINEVELIZ FILM CREW

PABLO VELIZ. In 2006, Véliz graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in communication. His participation at SAY Sí, an after school visual and media arts program, led him to a pursuit for the arts. At age 22, Véliz wrote, directed, produced, and edited his first feature film, La Tragedia de Macario, which was selected to participate in the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. The award winning film is based on the worst immigrant tragedy in the history of America. Today, Veliz is recognized as the most promising director from San Antonio and as a leader in the community of cinema bringing jobs for both cast and crew with a constant and impresive production of feature films. All of Veliz's films have US and international distribution.

DAGOBERTO PATLAN
Mr. Patlán comes to us from the film and television industry.  He has worked in television at PBS and also is an independent filmmaker. He has recently worked sound with CinematograficaVéliz on three feature films; La Tragedia de Macario, which was screened at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, “Clemente” which recently aquired US distribution, “7 Kilos” which is in the Laguna Pictures Pilot, "Double Dagger", which is currently in post-production in Los Angeles, and our current filming tittle "The Boys of Ghost Town".  Mr. Patlán has also produced the television series “State of the Art with Michael Mehl” as well as the KLRN documentary series “Fresh Cut.”   When not working he is busy writing the seminal work, “782 Things You Can Do with a VW and a Spatula.”

ALEJANDRO DEHOYOS
A Jack of all trades and Freelancer Extraordinaire, “Alex” is guerilla filmmaking personified. Based out of San Antonio, TX, his 9-year career has been a study in contrasts. Born in television and adopted by the film industry, he has worked on many projects, from Shorts to Features to Commercials to Live Broadcasts. Mr.DeHoyos joined CineVeliz in 2007 during production of  "Double Dagger" and is now heavily involved with the current production "The Boys of Ghost Town". Currently a Radio, TV and Film Major at San Antonio College, he splits his time between being a full time student, Freelancing with PBS, FOX, ESPN, SPURS Ent etc, Shooting Producing and Directing Various short films and projects.
 
A.J. Garces 
Born in Cali, Colombia, A. J. spent most of his time following his father, film director/actor John Garces. After completing his studies in visual communications he migrated to the U.S and joined the military where he worked as a multimedia and audio visual specialist.
After completing his military service he returned to Texas and began his own multimedia business. Since then he has worked with a variety of clients in both print and film, receiving an ADDY award in 2000. A.J's work has appeared in such magazines as: Texas Monthly, Entertainment Weekly, LA Times, Wall Street Journal and National Geographic magazine.
In 2001 he expanded into writing and directing his own independent films. Drawing from his past experience and with his background in multimedia A.J. began exploring digital filmmaking as Director, DP, Special FX, Art director, composer and editor. 
In 2006 A.J. Directed the first ever bilingual soap opera entitled " Alamo Heights SA". Geared toward individual mobile devices and the internet it  is still being used today as a model for episodic internet series with imbedded advertising, coining the phrase cybernovela.
In 2007 A.J wrote and directed the independent short film" Crush" that premiered at the SAL film festival in San Antonio Texas. "Crush" was awarded first place and went on to show at the Claremont Ferrand international film Festival in France.
Recently A.J has been invited to be a panelist and exhibit "Crush" at the  International Short Film Festival in Tokyo, Japan in June.
A.J. has just completed work as assistant director to Pablo Veliz's  feature length film"The Boys of Ghost town" starring Danny Trejo and Manny Garcia.
